Generator Monitoring for Commercial Facilities, Healthcare Facilities, etc.

Newer standby power systems are more reliable, however, they can still be subject to “failure to start” situations. Older generators are even more prone to “alarms” that can be problematic in the event of a power failure.
More than 10% of all installed generators are unable to start and carry a load when needed. Monitoring will help you identify these potential “failure to start” situations and correct them before a power failure.

  • Low Battery Voltage
  • Low Fuel
  • Low Coolant Temperature
  • Unhandled Systems Alarms
  • Missed Exercise

You may have an excellent generator maintenance plan in place but once that technician closes the generator, you will never know if it is still in working order. A wireless monitor will alert you and any key employees to any “event” that the generator has as well as allowing you to “log on” to one or all of your generators. In many cases, minor corrections and resets can be accomplished remotely without having to dispatch maintenance personnel. This is critical, especially during nights, weekends, holidays and other premium pay hours. And in the event that service personnel have to be dispatched, they can “know before they go”.

A wireless remote monitor provides you with the equivalent of 31,536,000 inspections a year with very little additional cost. In fact, wireless monitoring can save money over using a municipal employee for these inspections.

For example:
Municipal Employee = $31.49* Per Visit to each Generator X 24 Inspections per year = $755.76
Cellular Monitoring = $24.61 Per Month for each Generator X 31,536,000 Inspections per year = $295.35
*Based on NJ DPW average salary; 27% benefits; Mileage for 5 mile trip to each generator; 30 minutes to check generator; 5 minutes to log; 15 minutes travel time.

  • The equipment/Monitor expense is a one-time expense for the purchase and installation of the monitors on all of the generators.
  • Set up will be done with as many users for each generator as needed
  • You will be provided with a logon so that all generators can be viewed and remotely started on a single dashboard via PC, laptop, smartphone or tablet.
  • The monitors that Innovative Electric uses are equipped with LTE technology. The current 4G technology is only scheduled to be supported by the carriers until 2021. These monitors will provide the fastest signal strength and are expected to be supported by the carriers until at least 2030.
